Board Members

Thomas Cohen is an Associate Professor of history at The Catholic University of America. He received his PhD from Stanford University. He is the author of The Fire of Tongues: António Vieira and the Missionary Church in Brazil and Portugal, and of other studies of the religious history of early modern Europe and colonial Latin America. He has been a friend and neighbor of the Frost family for thirty-five years.

Jennifer Fuisz, Psy.D., a clinical psychologist based in Washington, DC, serves as a Board Member of RARE Hope. Dedicated to advancing research and treatment protocols for rare diseases, she is deeply committed to translating scientific discoveries into real-world impact. Jennifer actively supports RARE Hope’s mission to develop innovative treatments that create meaningful improvements in the lives of rare disease patients.

Lisa Garnett brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to RARE Hope, drawing from her management consulting background. With a strong commitment to fundraising and development, Lisa helps build meaningful connections that advance RARE Hope’s strategic objectives.  Lisa is deeply committed to accelerating access to life-changing therapies for all rare disease patients.

Carola Mamberto is an internationally renowned journalist and documentary filmmaker. A former co-producer for PBS FRONTLINE with global experience, Carola specializes in documenting individuals and communities driving change. She holds a master’s degree from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.  Carola is deeply passionate about rare disease research, inspired by the Frosts' transformative journey.

Mary Margaret Plumridge is a marketing consultant and mother of three girls. She is deeply committed to fundraising and connecting people in the rare disease and genetic research space.  Since 2018, Mary Margaret has been instrumental in designing and leading multiple event-based fundraising initiatives for RARE Hope, helping to broaden the organization’s reach and enhance its overall impact.

Jose Noguera, MD, brings 25+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including roles at Sanofi and Merck, to RARE Hope. As a physician specializing in internal medicine, he has experience in clinical trial execution across Phases 1-4. His work spans health policy and patient advocacy, with an emphasis on rare diseases. He currently serves as AVP for Business Strategy at VaxTRIALS – Emmes, a mid-sized, tech- /AI-enabled CRO.

Jimmy V. Reyes is the director of Reyes Holdings, L.L.C. Jimmy is also a dedicated philanthropic leader. He serves as Chairman of the Board of MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital and has volunteered with numerous foundations supporting those in need. Additionally, Jimmy is actively involved in organizations focused on strengthening resources for Washington, D.C.'s business community.
